August 20th, 2023: The Annual Family Picnic was a success this year! The Landing in Hillsborough is a wonderful place where we enjoyed each other, played games, had a great meal and talked common sense.

August 18th, 2023: Jim RUH and Catherine PAYNE show up big time at the rotary fair... They both are in this for ALL of the right reasons.
August 13th, 2023: Catherine PAYNE and Republican supporters attended the Somerset County 4-H Fair today!
We caught up with Catherine tonight to find out how it all went: "I had a super fun night at the 4-H Fair today. I remember attending as a child and the feeling was exactly the same. Absolutely loved the animals and fairgrounds. I had the chance to speak to numerous people from Hillsborough, who are focused on common sense policies for their families... We had wonderful conversations all around. Great time and people should go and see what it's all about."

August 14th, 2023: RUH and PAYNE focus on advancing our best in class recreation services
Jim RUH and Catherine PAYNE spent time at the various parks this weekend while hanging with the local kiddos. In the end, this team is dedicated to enhancing the services that the township offers. This year Committeeman RUH worked closed with the recreation department to ensure our parks are safe and enhanced to offer the best place for our children to live.

Catherine PAYNE is always thinking of other people before herself. As the fundraising leader for GiGi's Playhouse, one project Catherine is organizing is to collect sneakers, in usable condition, and have people leave them at the main entrance of the Municipal Building. Conservatives care, plain and simple.

Committeeman Jim RUH has been working hard since the start of 2023! For the past year plus, your Republican team has been conceptualizing the initial plans for a dedicated Senior Center here in Hillsborough. Committeeman RUH has a ton of passion for this project and is taking the lead as we move into the next phase of bringing this to life for our Seniors! Also deeply involved are Senior Chapters A & B, the Township Administration and the Mayor, Deputy Mayor and the Township Committee members.

March 15th, 2023: It's OFFICIAL! Committeeman Jim RUH and Catherine PAYNE are running to keep Hillsborough one of the BEST places to live!
NOTE: PAYNE is running to replace retiring Doug Tomson and RUH is running to maintain his seat on the Township Committee
The Hillsborough Township Republican Committee selected Committeeman Jim Ruh and Catherine Payne to run in the Republican primary this June. As a 35 year plus resident, Committeeman Jim Ruh was appointed to the Hillsborough Township Committee last winter and previously served on the Hillsborough Board of Education. Catherine Payne who has lived in Hillsborough since 2007 currently serves on the Township Board of Adjustment and a Volunteer at GIGI’s Playhouse and Saint Joseph’s Church in Hillsborough.
“Hillsborough Township is lucky to have so many great candidates step forward to represent Hillsborough,” stated Hillsborough Republican Chairman and Former Hillsborough Mayor and County Freeholder Ken Scherer. “Jim’s longtime dedication to Hillsborough and business background and Catherine’s volunteerism and business leadership will guarantee Hillsborough will be in good hands for year’s to come.””
James Ruh moved to Hillsborough in 1989 and is a graduate of Hillsborough High School. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Jim has worked for the same company since high school and is currently the Vice President for Sales.
He lives with his wife Cybil, and three children – James, Isabella and Greyson. Jim is also the Executive Director for the Shaun O’Hara Foundation and has worked to organize their annual golf outing for the last 13 years.
“I’m honored to receive my party’s endorsement for a full term on the Township Committee,” Ruh said. “I truly believe Hillsborough is one of the best towns in America. This town has given me so many opportunities in life and have provided my family with the American Dream. My goal is to ensure that Hillsborough is an amazing town for years to come!”
Catherine Payne, originally from Bridgewater, moved to Hillsborough in 2007 with her husband Al Payne, a Hillsborough High School grad. She earned her Bachelor's from High Point University in International Business and Spanish. Their oldest daughter, Brenna, is a Freshman at West Chester University and their twins, Emma and Dylan, are Sophomore's at Hillsborough High School. Catherine is active with GiGi's Playhouse of Hillsborough as both a literacy tutor and fundraising chair. GiGi's supports participants of all ages with Down syndrome with free services that enrich and improve their lives.
“As a long time volunteer for my children, I know the benefits of giving back to your community can bring.” Payne said. “I’m excited to bring my voice as a mother, as a business leader and as fighter to the township committee!”
Mayor Shawn Lipani noted “Jim and Catherine are what Hillsborough needs to ensure that we remain one of the best towns in America. I’m confident the voters in Hillsborough will proudly elect them this November!”
