The Hillsborough Republican District Committee
By New Jersey law, voting districts must be geographically defined in every municipality. In Hillsborough, there are 33 such voting districts. By law, each of these voting districts is permitted to have a duly elected Republican District Committeeman and Committeewoman. The Republican District Committee is therefore comprised of 66 men and women, all serving two-year terms in these voting districts.
Their purpose is to maintain the principles of the Republican Party; to encourage the candidacy of qualified Republicans to public office in order to ensure sound legislation and competent administration; to screen, select, and endorse municipal candidates; participate in the screening selection and endorsement of State and County candidates; to resist and expose political corruption; to promote honest and free electoral methods; and to encourage public attention to and discussion of civic matters. |
