Ciccarelli’s Proven Servant Leadership Well-Suited for Hillsborough
Editor,
John Ciccarelli has been a dedicated leader within our organization, AACE International, for over 20 years. AACE is a not-for-profit professional membership association for cost engineers and it is members like John who have helped shape its growth and furthered its mission in the industry. John is a well-respected, consistent author and presenter at our conferences and volunteers in various capacities contributing to our body of knowledge. He is a hard working leader, having served two terms as the president of his local AACE New Jersey Section and in a variety of positions on AACE International’s Board of Directors including Regional Director, VP Finance, and President. When asked to serve as a founding board member of the newly established AACE International Certification Institute, a 501(c)(6) affiliate organization, he once again agreed to volunteer his time, expertise, and leadership. His contributions have been invaluable to this endeavor and I have personally enjoyed getting to know him. He has received numerous awards for his leadership and volunteerism within our organization. John is a servant leader and demonstrates time and again why he’s someone we can always count on.

Ciattarelli Endorses Britting, Ciccarelli for Township Committee

To the Editor,
For 25 years my wife and I have been residents of Hillsborough Township. We raised our four children here and have been involved in the community in numerous ways. We love it here.
And so, with Election Day quickly approaching, I feel compelled to write in support of Township Committeeman Robert “Bob” Britting and his running mate John Ciccarelli, who are running to represent us in Hillsborough.
After previously serving as an elected official, and as a former Main Street small business owner, I know the importance of fiscal discipline, proper land use, and pro-business policies at the municipal level. In these regards, and others, Bob and John are committed to keeping Hillsborough an exceptional place to live and do business.
When paying property taxes, homeowners want value in return. That’s exactly what we receive here in Hillsborough - value. Indeed, we can celebrate a very safe community, solid fiscal management, and outstanding services provided by great Township employees guided by a very dedicated Township Committee. I’m more than confident Bob and John will only enhance that value.
Without hesitation, I wholly support Bob and John. I very respectfully request that Hillsborough give these two outstanding individuals very serious consideration. After doing so, I’m convinced voters will see that electing them to the Township Committee is in the absolute best interest of taxpayers and our Hillsborough community.
To keep Hillsborough a safe, fiscally responsible, and beautiful community, vote for Robert “Bob” Britting and John Ciccarelli for Township Committee on November 8th.

John Ciccarelli – Keeping Hillsborough One of the Best Places to Live

To the Editor:
John Ciccarelli has been a neighbor, colleague and friend of mine for the better part of twenty-five years. Shortly after my wife, Ania, and I moved to Hillsborough in 1995 John and I began working together for an engineering consulting firm in Princeton. From that point on, our families became close as our children were in sports and school together. As Hillsborough residents we often talked about issues impacting the community, especially those centered around families and quality of life including development, infrastructure, education, and taxes. Given John’s background in business, engineering and construction, he brings a unique and balanced perspective as it relates to understanding and assessing these complex issues. Over the years his passion to help the community grew from volunteering in a number of capacities, to assuming various leadership positions with the Hillsborough Soccer Club, to lastly being a valuable member of the township’s planning board. Having worked with John for so many years, I have seen firsthand his integrity, work ethic and commitment to getting things done the right way and always employing a commonsense approach. His straightforward method to tackling challenges and communicating is refreshing and he genuinely cares about people. He is my strongest link to the community where my wife and I raised our children and built our lives, and I am proud to call him my colleague and friend. I am fully confident that he would work tirelessly as a Township Committee representative to keep Hillsborough as one of the best places to live and raise a family in New Jersey.

Britting Endorsed for Hillsborough Township Committee

To the Editor,
I initially met Robert (Bob) Britting roughly 3 years ago in 2019 on the soccer and baseball fields all throughout Hillsborough Township. Bob has young children as do I so our paths continually crossed multiple times per week at the children’s games and events. As fate would have it my son ended up on Bob’s teams in soccer and baseball these last few years, and I couldn’t be happier. Great coaches are hard to find, great people even harder. I consider the children whom have Bob as a coach and mentor fortunate to be able to learn from him and his experiences as he provides great advice and feedback to all he works with. I have witnessed on several occasions Bob identifies someone’s weakness and turned them into a strength by season’s end. It’s a blessing to Hillsborough township to have such an encouraging, energetic and passionate coach involved with our youth guiding them throughout the practices, games and seasons.
In addition to Bob’s coaching background, I have witnessed firsthand how he has built and developed relationships with key stakeholders as well as the opposition throughout our town of Hillsborough and the County of Somerset. These relationships have built networks and have united voices and beliefs which have led to Bob developing credibility (even with his short time in this community). Based on his interactions within these groups its apparent that Bob strives to form a good working relationship. He clearly understands that Stakeholder relations management is a key skill for all organizations because “stakeholders” can affect the result of every “organizational” activity. With that said, it’s clear to me that Bob wants to tackle, fix and address each and every issue he comes across within the community he calls home, especially those which maybe impacting our children. It’s nice to see how much he truly cares, as he is just as passionate about this aspect of his life as he is when it comes to his own family and coaching our children. He truly wants to get things done and changed for the better, and I respect him for that.

2018 Candidate Supports Britting and Ciccarelli for Township Committee

Editor,
I’ve been lucky to live and volunteer in Hillsborough for a long time. Open space, great recreation programs and parks, and a top school system are some of the things that attracted me to Hillsborough. And, while change is inevitable, overall, these core strengths continue to be why Hillsborough is a great place to live and raise a family. Strong, fiscally responsible leaders with a common sense approach to government have sustained these strengths for Hillsborough and are what is needed to sustain them going forward.
I’ve seen how Bob Britting and John Ciccarelli have served this community in recent years, and how they value family and community. Hillsborough will be lucky to have them help lead our town forward. Please join me in voting early, or on Election Day for Britting and Ciccarelli to keep Hillsborough a ‘family first’ town to live in.

Joan Biondi Endorses Republican Candidates for Hillsborough Committee

Editor,
As a resident of Hillsborough, you already know you are living in the best town in the USA. You can attribute that to continued solid and intelligent Republican leadership for many years.
Like my late husband and your Mayor for many years, John Ciccarelli and Bob Britting, the Republican candidates for Township Committee this year, are dedicated to Hillsborough. They are invested in the future: yours and your children's. They continue to provide their experience and dedication by selflessly serving you on various boards and committees dedicated to the forward movement of Hillsborough Township.
I have read their respective bios and am more than impressed. Their service to your Township is impressive. It is not an easy job serving the public, it is very often overlooked and time consuming, taking time away from family, but for a few special people, it has its own reward and that is doing your very best regardless of party affiliation. These two candidates are invested in their service to Hillsborough. Take a moment to view their backgrounds and see for yourself what John and Bob have done and continue to do for you, your family and your community.
Don't take my endorsement lightly, do your own due diligence by reading their respective bios (online) and do the best thing you can for your community this year - a vote for John Ciccarelli and Bob Britting in 2022 is a vote for continued solid Republican leadership for you and your neighbors.

To the Editor,
I am asking my friends and neighbors to join me in supporting Shawn Lipani and Steve Cohen for Hillsborough Township Committee. I have known our mayor for over 30 years. His leadership throughout the COVID-19 pandemic was unsurpassed. I had the pleasure of serving on the Planning Board with Steve Cohen. Steve’s knowledge and compassion for Hillsborough will make him a great committeeman as well.

3 Hillsborough GOP Committee Members Endorse Lipani, Cohen

To the Editor:
As current members of the Township Committee we have had the distinct pleasure to work with both Mayor Shawn Lipani and Steve Cohen. Our roles as members of the Township Committee have provided us the opportunity to see firsthand the positive contributions that both Shawn and Steve made to Hillsborough, through their many years of community service and volunteerism, as well as their professional and business involvement in Hillsborough. We are proud to endorse both of these outstanding public servants and leaders for election to the Township Committee.
Mayor Shawn Lipani has been a lifelong Hillsborough resident and is a highly regarded, long-time business owner in town, in addition to serving as a member of the Hillsborough Rotary. During his tenure on the Township Committee and as Mayor, he has shown his dedication to Hillsborough, provided steady leadership and compassion during the devastating after-effects of Hurricane Ida and the COVID 19 pandemic, displayed his commitment to the Hillsborough business community, helped maintain fiscal discipline with our town budget. Prior to his time on the Township Committee, he served as the Hillsborough Planning Board Chairman, and served on the Hillsborough Economic and Business Development Commission, Youth Services, Board of Adjustment and Capital Planning. His principled leadership, high character and strong commitment to community service are an asset to our municipality.
Steve Cohen, a 20+ year resident of Hillsborough has been very active as a Hillsborough volunteer. His many community efforts include serving on the Hillsborough Board of Education and has also been a longtime active member of the Hillsborough Rotary Club. He has also willingly given his time to serve on local boards and commissions including serving as Vice Chairman on the Hillsborough Planning Board, the Hillsborough Board of Ethics. He has been with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey for over 11 years in numerous capacities. His expertise in government facilities and operations will help to continue our business-like approach to municipal government. He will be an excellent addition to the Township Committee.
They are both hard working, disciplined, and focused individuals of high character and integrity. Their commitment to Hillsborough is impressive and is shown through deeds not words. They both had shown their willingness to give back to their communities by serving as local volunteers. We have seen up close how their decisions and actions remain true to their core principles of fiscal responsibility, a businesslike approach to municipal government, preservation of open space, economic growth and support for our business community, and open and transparent government…principles that we share with them.
In Hillsborough, your elected officials work as a team to ensure that Hillsborough remains “One of the best places to Live in America”. Mayor Shawn Lipani and Steve Cohen have consistently proven themselves to be the type of volunteers, public servants, and community leaders of which we can all be proud. We strongly endorse their candidacies and ask for your support in electing them to the Township Committee on November 2nd.

Vote Republican for Safe Family Environment With Open Space
10/26/2021 Posted on TapInto.net
To the editor:
My family and I moved to Hillsborough, New Jersey a few years ago. The purpose for moving to this town was simple: to bring up our family in a safe and family-oriented environment with access to open space and recreational facilities. With that, we believe our town is a little slice of Heaven that still exists in this evolving world.
My wife Kelly and I know we made the best choice by moving to Hillsborough. We’ve made friends that we consider family and are proud to say Hillsborough is our children’s home base for the future.
My passion is my family and I want to work closely with those in charge of governing the township to help maintain this close to perfect town. Recently, my wife and I worked closely with the Hillsborough Superintendent of Schools to provide insight into the communication plan for a safe and effective return to school this fall following the pandemic. I am interested in public service and recently took the initiative to learn more about how to make a difference in Hillsborough and now serve on the Sustainable Hillsborough Committee and the Environmental Commission.
For those of you NEW to Hillsborough: Good move! This is the best big place to live with a small town feel. Hillsborough has great sports teams, parks and recreational facilities, growing diversity, more protected land than most towns (@ 40%), great local businesses and restaurants, and a town culture second to none.
Our path forward: It is obvious that we are on a journey to become a more contemporary town for families. Diversity is an extremely important feature for Hillsborough and I hope that we continue think about how our town’s amazing past can help guide the future.
The environment is critical to protect. Currently, Hillsborough has xx% open space and the township recently acquired additional new land for the purpose of protecting it from building developers. The fact that the town can grow, while we can expand and protect more land at the same time, is a beautiful thing. As a member of the Environmental Commission and Sustainable Hillsborough, I know the team members there truly care about our ecosystem.
With that said, a big election is coming this fall. Based on the reasons my family moved to Hillsborough, I fully support the Republican candidates running for Township Committee. From my point-of-view, these candidates are the best people capable of tackling the most important local issues affecting our town. Shawn Lipani and Steve Cohen have my support as long as they promise to continue delivering on the Republican-led Township Committee's history of maintaining:
· an aggressive approach towards lower taxes
· a path of sustainable growth for homes and the environment
· a safe environment for families and children
· the Heaven-like town community with plenty of open space
I ask you to support local Republicans, Mayor Shawn Lipani and Steve Cohen, in the same manner that I am – I truly believe it is what is best for our families.
For those on the other side of the aisle, remember national politics are nothing like local politics. I ask you to support the Hillsborough Republicans this fall to help continue to make Hillsborough the best place to live in New Jersey. Hillsborough is OUR little slice of Heaven.
Sincerely,
Robert Britting

Even though circumstances and family obligations were the reason I physically left Hillsborough, my heart is always here. Those of you who are new to town I am sure have come to realize how lucky you are. This is a great place to live, to raise and educate children and to enjoy the "good life". We all hope that where we do choose to settle and enjoy our lives in a town that has been well-thought out and offers so much to make living here worthwhile and Hillsborough residents have made that decision.
That is why I still keep coming back here to enjoy what you all have at your fingertips and maybe don't always think of why this is such a special place. Let me share that secret with you. It is continuous Republican thoughtfulness and hard work. A town that offers so much has not come this way easily, but with sound planning and perseverance.
That is why I am more than happy to urge all voters this year to support the Republican ticket of Lipani and Cohen. I have had the pleasure of personally knowing these candidates for many years, and I know how hard they have worked and will continue to do so to keep Hillsborough as the best place to live, not only in Somerset County but in the State of New Jersey as well. Their credentials are impeccable and they are more than worthy of your vote and support this November.

Senator endorses Lipani for Hillsborough mayor

I am writing today to endorse Mayor Shawn Lipani for re-election to the Hillsborough Township Committee.
Mayor Lipani has been a part of the Hillsborough community for over 40 years attending the local schools, participating in Little League and Dukes Pop Warner. He is a small business owner with his family Central Jersey Nurseries, a member of the Hillsborough Rotary Club, as well as been on numerous boards and commissions within Hillsborough over the years prior to his election.
Mayor Lipani’s dedication to Hillsborough over the past three years along with his Republican colleagues continue to the present. guiding Hillsborough through the post-COVID pandemic.
The history of responsible government and proven leadership, exemplified by Mayor Lipani’s post-Tropical Storm Ida, reenforces my point.
I urge Hillsborough to vote for Mayor Lipani and Steve Cohen for Hillsborough Township Committee.

The Time is now for Jack Ciattarelli for Governor!

The State of New Jersey desperately needs a leader to restore fiscal and responsible government in Trenton. Jack’s resume of a successful main street businessman and public service from local to state government plus his passion for his beloved home state is without a doubt a needed breath of fresh air.
I put my trust in Jack to roll up his sleeves and make the hard decisions to fix our broken school funding formula, escalating property taxes and stem the exodus of our seniors who can’t afford to stay with their families.
Jack is from Jersey for Jersey.
I urge you to support Jack Ciattarelli on November 2 for Governor.

Mayor Lipani and Steve Cohen Dedicated, Committed To Hillsborough

To the Editor,
Mayor Shawn Lipani is running for reelection in November. In spite of COVID and in spite of court-mandated COAH (Council on Affordable Housing) development, Shawn has shown determined leadership to do what’s best for our town.
He has led the acquisition of over 400 acres of land which reduces our future COAH obligation and helped finalize acquisition of another 300+ acres next to Ann Van Park. That’s 700 acres the developers and a Judge can't consider in the next COAH round in 2025.
Additionally, Mayor Lipani has reduced our municipal tax rate. He has maintained or expanded Senior and Youth recreation programs, such as golf lessons for all ages, mountain biking, Ultimate Frisbee and a youth running club to name just a few new additions to an over-all diverse program.
More streets have been re-surfaced than ever before, with much of the cost utilizing grant money. Mayor Lipani has accomplished all of this while dealing with the burden of COVID.
And Mayor Lipani initiated help for all residents in the days after the unprecedented destruction caused by Tropical Storm Ida - immediately opening the township dump for all residents, curbside pick up for seniors, and ordering the Health and Building Departments to stay open longer hours to help people rebuild.
Steve Cohen will bring the same level of dedication and commitment to our youth, to our seniors, and to our town. Please vote for Shawn Lipani and Steve Cohen.

Lipani, Cohen should be re-elected to Hillsborough Township Committee
Posted in Hillsborough BEACON 10/12/2021
I am writing in support of election of Mayor Shawn Lipani and Mr. Steven Cohen to the Hillsborough Township Committee. Both Mayor Lipani and Mr. Cohen are well versed in what it takes to manage and meet day-to-day needs of Hillsborough Township.
Mayor Lipani is a lifelong residence of Hillsborough, and a local businessman who knows only too well what fiscal responsibility is, and how important it is to maintain strong control over any increases in the property taxes. He also has a deep and broad experience in the various activities of the township, having previously served on the Board of Adjustment, Planning Board, Somerset County Planning Board, Economic and Business Development Commission. The experience he gained through his work to date in the township has no substitute, and it showed during his time as a mayor.
One area that we should all be grateful for is his laser focus on improving the roads and easing the traffic congestion in the town center. I think one would be hard pressed to find any potholed roads in Hillsborough Township. Plus, significant miles of roads have been resurfaced, and many more miles are in the pipeline for further resurfacing.
And to cap it all, his relentless effort to get completion of the Route 206 bypass must be applauded. It avoids having to go through the town center thus saving time and frustration for those wanting to go north or south without needing to stop in Hillsborough town center.
Mayor Lipani has also been proactive in preserving as much of the green acres in Hillsborough as possible, and has been instrumental in getting a contractual agreement together to purchase 450 acres of land between Hamilton and Amwell Road while at the same time working to develop a realistic long-term road improvement plan. Given Mayor Lipani’s achievements and his future plans for the township, he deserves to be reelected to the Hillsborough Township Committee.
The second candidate, Mr. Cohen, is also a longtime resident of Hillsborough, and together with Mayor Lipani, would make a formidable team to continue to work for the betterment of the township. Mr. Cohen believes strongly in giving back to the community. He is determined to continue with his family’s tradition of “service above self” devoted to maintaining Hillsborough “as a best community” to live in. He has clearly demonstrated this commitment by helping those in need through his membership of the Hillsborough Rotary Club, organizing an annual Easter Egg Hunt and Rotary Fair, which is such an enjoyable event for the families, and also raises significant amounts of funds for various charities in the township.
His knowledge of the affordable housing issues will be most valuable to the township where the state mandates a certain number of such houses to be constructed with no regard for the congestion they may cause and the impact on the quality of life. Steering through this minefield of laws while meeting the mandate is where Mr. Cohen will provide his unique understanding.
Mr. Cohen’s professional experience in facilities management with particular emphasis on public safety and emergency operations together with his direct work with financial budgeting, procurement contracts, security operations, construction operations and implementation of COVID-19 protocols will add value to the committee’s work. Mr. Cohen is amply qualified to be a valued member of the committee and, therefore, must be elected to the township committee.

To the Editor:
Steven Cohen has been a neighbor and friend of mine for more than twenty years. Our daughters were friends growing up which made it easy for our families to get to know each other. I know him to be a sincere, honest, hardworking individual that seeks to do good for his community.
Being Hillsborough residents, we have often discussed matters affecting the community including development, education, services, taxes, seniors and more. I have watched his interest in politics grow from just being an informed citizen to getting involved and trying to make a difference.
His knowledge and awareness of township issues as well as his willingness to affect change demonstrate his love and concern for the community. He is committed to improving our community and making it a better place for future generations.
He has impressed me with how tirelessly and hard he works to get things done. Steve is a great guy with impeccable integrity. He has a great sense of humor, cares about others and takes a common sense approach to life. As a neighbor, a friend, a Township Committee representative, he's someone you can count on.
