Hillsborough Republican Club Vice President Toni Natale, was at the Saints Peter and Paul cemetery on Millstone-River Rd, on behalf of the Hillsborough Township Republican Club, to honor America's veterans on Dec 18th, National Wreaths Across America Day. She was joined by GOP Club members, Mike and Betty Schraufagnel, and Audrey and Tony Winchatz.
Wreaths Across America was at The New Cemetery of Somerville to Remember and Honor our veterans through the laying of Remembrance wreaths on the graves of our country's fallen heroes and the act of saying the name of each and every veteran aloud. The cemetery is the resting place of American soldiers dating back to the Civil War. Hundreds of volunteers including many scouts and high school students from Hillsborough, collectively laid 200 wreaths at the cemetery.
Over 3,000 cemeteries nationwide hosted similar events this year.
"Remember the Fallen. . . Honor those who Serve. . . Teach our children the value of Freedom.
Wreaths Across America has been active in central New Jersey for several years.
This will be the third year the cemetery in Somerville participated in the holiday tradition, which began as a gesture of thanks that has grown into a national movement of volunteers coming together to remember the nation's fallen and honor their service, while also teaching the next generation about the sacrifices made for Americans to live freely. In 2017, the convoy stopped in Somerset County, N.J. at Manville High School and the following year at Montgomery High School.
"We are forever grateful for the thousands of supporters who dedicate their time and effort to fulfilling our mission on a local level," said Karen Worcester, executive director of Wreaths Across America. "These individuals and their communities know the value of remembering the fallen, honoring those who currently serve and teaching the next generation about the sacrifices made for our freedom every day, and without their continued support, Wreaths Across America would not exist."
The Hillsborough Township Republican Club was proud to participate this year in what may be the start of a worthy new Club tradition.
