HILLSBOROUGH, NJ - The Hillsborough Township Republican Committee has selected John J. Ciccarelli to run in the Republican primary this June. Ciccarelli, who has lived in Hillsborough since 1999, has served on the Hillsborough Planning Board since 2020 and brings a deep understanding of government and private sector experience with his background in engineering, construction, and business. Committeeman Robert Britting, who was previously selected to run in the primary, was chosen to fill the unexpired term of Committeeman Steve Cohen and will run in the General Election this November. “Hillsborough Township is lucky to have so many great candidates step forward to represent Hillsborough,” said Hillsborough Republican chairman and former Hillsborough Mayor and County Freeholder Ken Scherer. “John’s business background and engineering capabilities will allow him to seamlessly transition to the township committee.” As a resident of Hillsborough, Ciccarelli lives with his wife Kim Demko, who is a life-long resident of Hillsborough. Together they have raised two daughters who went through the Hillsborough Township School District with Sydney working as a Park Ranger in Utah and Alexa attending Coastal Carolina University. Ciccarelli works as a director in the Construction Advisory Services group at J.S. Held and has more than 30 years of experience performing expert dispute resolution consulting and project advisory services for clients in the engineering and construction industries globally. John is a graduate of the University of Delaware with a B.S. in Civil Engineering, is a licensed Professional Engineer, and also has an M.B.A. with a Real Estate Concentration from Rutgers University. “I’m honored to receive my party’s endorsement,” Ciccarelli said. “Hillsborough has given so much to me and my family over the years and stepping up for this servant leadership role is a way for me to continue giving back to the community. As a husband, father, and former President and current board member of the Hillsborough Soccer Club, I want to ensure that Hillsborough stays one of the best towns in America!” Britting noted “John and I look forward to representing the Republican Party this fall. Our joint business background will ensure that we will remain committed to the residents of Hillsborough in making certain that each and every tax dollar is used in the best manner possible to serve all of our residents.” “Committeeman Britting and I look forward to fighting for all the people of Hillsborough and are aligned to focus on low municipal taxes and fiscal responsibility, sustainable infrastructure and smart growth, expanding our extensive open space, and enhancing community services for the youth, senior citizens, and all residents of our diverse town," Ciccarelli said. "My wife and I raised our family in Hillsborough, and I am running to serve my family, friends, neighbors, and all current and future families of Hillsborough to ensure that they have the same opportunity that we did.” Comments are closed.
