The Hillsborough Republican Party endorsed Lipani and Cohen during a virtual Zoom meeting earlier this week. “We are incredibly fortunate to have such great community minded, hardworking candidates as Mayor Shawn Lipani and Steven Cohen.” said Hillsborough Republican Chairman Ken Scherer. “These two gentlemen have always been willing to serve in some capacity for their community.” Lipani said “I am honored to be afforded the opportunity to run for re-election for Township Committee by the Hillsborough Republican District Committee members. I am also excited to have Steve Cohen as my running mate. I have known Steve for over 20 years as a fellow Rotarian and as an advocate for Hillsborough. Together we will be dedicated to keep Hillsborough the place we all love to call home.” Cohen, who has served on the township Planning Board and Board of Education said “I am honored to receive the endorsement of the Hillsborough Republican Party faithful. Growing up, I discovered the joy my Dad had for public service, his love for doing for others and the satisfaction of giving back to his community. Those principles and a dedication to protect the taxpayers as well as maintaining Hillsborough as a ‘best Community,’ are mine as well.” Lipani is the owner of Central Jersey Nurseries and has served on the Township Committee since 2018. He served as Deputy Mayor in 2020 and was elected mayor by the other four members of the governing body in January. He has also served on the township planning board, the Somerset County Planning Board, Youth Services Commission and Board of Adjustment. Cohen is a facilities' manager for several New Jersey properties for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. He has lived in Hillsborough for 22 years. Both he and Lipani are members of the Hillsborough Rotary. Comments are closed.
